Our earth is a biosphere in the Milky Way galaxy. Apart from oceans, major part of the land in the earth is covered by forests & savannas where wild animals are in harmony with their surroundings. Humans living in the other part of the sphere have become parasites.
‘ADAVI NAINAR’ forest is in the western ghats of India, the mountain range which was declared as a ‘UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE’ and this is where the ‘Kaani’ tribes lived. A new law, ‘Indian Wild Life Act’ was passed to protect wild life in the year 1972, resulted in eviction of all the tribal groups from the forests. When everyone moved out of ADAVI, one man “Moottukkaani” refused and moved in to the deeper sections of forest as he believed that the laws are destroying human identity and connect with the nature. This man always felt the ADAVI forest as his home and was certain about his role as the protector of ADAVI wild life. Aging and his love for nature made him to lookout for a successor for his forest kingdom. Moottukkaani’s harmony with the nature helped him to communicate with the animals, plants and trees. One day a bird guides him to find an infant washed ashore at a river bank. The prince thus arrived to take up the legacy, named as ‘Kutty Raja’ by Moottukkaani, grows in the nature and gets the tacit knowledge gathered by the old man during his lifetime.

As for the mise en abyme, it seemed to me interesting to bring the theater into the world of cinema. Put the box in a box! A little like the Russian dolls that are removed one after the other until the last. The smallest actually hides no more mystery than the biggest! Are we a simple quantifiable fragment or the effect of an illusion?

I made the choice of a camera close to the actors, to embark the spectator in a relationship of intimacy closer to the characters, giving the impression that they deliver the ultimate depth of their flesh in which their soul transpires . As in the theater of Chekhov or the novels of Zweig or those of Hesse, the mediocre existence of the characters has no truth unless it appears to us in a few disparate fragments.
