Chronicles of Religious Persecution in China -The Church of Almighty God
Director Jason Jia
Republic of Korea
Runtime 01:00:22
Completion Date: July 13, 2017
Since it came to power in Mainland China in 1949, the Chinese Communist Party has been unceasing in its persecution of religious faith. It has frantically arrested and murdered Christians, expelled and abused missionaries operating in China, confiscated and burned countless copies of the Bible, sealed up and demolished church buildings, and tried to eradicate all house churches. Recent years have also seen the CCP government’s wide-scale introduction of policies aimed at the "Sinification" of Christianity. Thousands of church crosses have been demolished, many church buildings have been knocked down, and a great number of Christians in house churches have been arrested and persecuted. Christian churches in China suffer cruel and bloody persecution …
This documentary faithfully and objectively reproduces the persecution suffered by Chinese Christians at the hands of the CCP government, and focuses on describing the real experiences of two Christians who were persecuted to death by the CCP because of their belief in God. The Christians persecuted in the film are people from different sects and denominations who searched for the truth, and who heard the voice of God and thus returned to Almighty God. They walked the right path of life, yet were frantically arrested by the CCP government, tortured, and ultimately died from their mistreatment. The families of these martyrs were also monitored, threatened, and terrified by the CCP. They were not only unable to get justice for the deceased, but were thrown into disarray by the CCP's persecution. This exquisitely-shot documentary attempts to recreate what really happened at the time, and provides a profound reflection of the flagrant encroachment of the religious beliefs and human rights of Chinese Christians.
It is a window to understanding the true lives of Chinese Christians and Christian families, as well as a reflection—rarely seen in recent years—of the experiences and emotions of Chinese Christians who have been persecuted as a result of their faith.

Sophie Taeuber-Arp's Vanishing Lines

In what is, prima facie, a mesh of abstract lines, no few of the works that Sophie Taeuber-Arp completed between 1940 and 1942 in her exile in southern France manifest a symbolism of war, persecution and flight. The compositions of lively, curved lines have, in part, something lost, floating, broken, irrational about them, which, in all Taeuber-Arp's earlier works, would have been wholly uncharacteristic. In Taeuber-Arp's cycle of works entitled 'Lignes...', an aspect of DADA re-emerges – the (meaning-denying) art of refugees from war. The animation, which combines eight of her works from the 'Lignes' series with photographs from WW2, shows the connection and the discrepancy between Taeuber-Arp's artistic activity and the world of war and persecution. The video thereby highlights a dilemma facing artists to this day, of making art in a time of injustice and violence. There is good reason to animate Sophie Taeuber-Arp's compositions, as she developed a striking number of variations out of the same basic elements for her series and because dance, movement and rhythm play an important role throughout her œuvre

Joyce Carol Oates
MOLOLO is a series of open air performances including poetry, street theater, music and dance, which takes place on Molo in Sopot, Poland during summer season ("quick theater by the fountain").
In 2016 shows under the title of "Crème Noir" (French: black cream) were inspired by poems from the acclaimed American writer - Joyce Carol Oates.
These performances were recorded for the movie, which is rather a new artistic expression than a documentary of events.
Crème Noir means the black cream.
This noteworthy street triptych is a story about a sophisticated feminine world. The main character begins a multidimensional, metaphorical journey from maturity through childhood (even prenatal period!) and adolescence to the beginnings of her parents’ relationship.
She tries to build the conscience of woman's nature. But during this trip she finds codes hard to decrypt, habits hard to break and wounds that heal over shallow and with suffering – all inside of her. Deliberately or not, during the whole life she’s been putting on the black cream.
It’s dark and raw. Something between a documentary and a feature film. Maybe a street musical?
A quaint cinematic experience.

Hot Afternoons Have Been in Montana is a short film based on the Nation prize-winning poem written in 1924 by Eli Siegel. Recorded by the poet, the film takes on a wonderful and meaningful odyssey throughout the universe--the world of all time and space. It's so visual, and the relations so surprising and fitting-- made so musically--I knew it had to be made into a film. 'Hot Afternoons' is a colorful montage combining still photographs, computer art, and live-action to show how a hot afternoon in Montana is related to the whole world--people, places, things, events. It makes the past--the feelings of people--alive!

"CHRYSALIS" is an experimental film by first time filmmaker Nic Nassuet; a muti-ethnic, disabled, veteran, award winning songwriter and recording artist. "CHRYSALIS" has its roots in the alchemical process of transmutation as experienced via transition from military into civilian life as a disabled veteran. The film was created for Los Angeles County Museum of Art's (LACMA) Veterans Make Movies program in which veterans study film making and create their own short films for the museum's archives in just eight weeks.
"CHRYSALIS" is the only movie of any length to have ever filmed on location in the tombs beneath the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. Through the intention imbued into every effect, color, sound, click, knock, angle, set, and frame, the cycles of creation, sustenance, and destruction, are exemplified as are the Masonic, Rosicrucian, and Eastern mysteries as they relate to the "Solve et Coagula" formula of destruction and reconstitution.
The title "CHRYSALIS" is necessarily written entirely in capital letters. This is because the external state of chrysalis is outwardly still and silent, while the internal state is one of noise and ordered chaos.
